I'm looking for a good script, preferably freeware,
cgi based, which can deliver banner ad impressions and provide stats to my advertisers. I have requests pouring in for advertising on my site and I can't seem to get this in place.

Do the webmasters here have first hand experience with any such script?

Thanks!

If you don't mind using PHP, then I would highly recommend PhpAdsNew. Using PhpAdsNew you can serve millions of impressions every month and its features are hard to beat. Also, did I mention that it is free ;)

Hope this helps :)

Central Ad 4.0 @ $595.00 will please the advertisers.

CA4 was THE ad rotation script to have, I use it myself (2 copies, in fact, one for banners, one for buttons and tiles). It holds up under load (it really hurts when your banner script croaks during your best traffic days), and as Mackin suggests, the clients like and accept its online reporting. That said, it hasn't gotten high marks for support over the last 2 years -so if you're going to ask questions beyond the documentation, you might want to try asking them before you buy.

Thanks! This is very helpful. Phpadsnew I just downloaded, it needs MySQL, Central Ads is too expensive for me at this time. I'm looking for something CGI based which doesn't need a database backend.

Probably the best-known of the cgi-based ad rotators is awsd.com's webadverts. It's been around a loooooong time.

Hi all,

This is my very first post and I thought I'd pipe in with my two cents. I've tried quite a few ad rotation scripts, and this is what I found:

I needed:
Support for Zones
Multiple ad sizes
Multiple ads per page (without duplication)
Very cheap (I like free)
Customizable
Client Login.

I tried quite a few scripts. I either couldn't get them to run, or when they did run they killed the server, or certain aspects wouldn't work.

I finally got on a host that supports MySQL and the first thing I installed was PhpAdsNew and I've used it since. IMHO it's the BEST free ad serving application out there!

Yep, Webadverts (search for it in Google).

It's by far the best option and costs nothing, apart from a donation. We looked at all the $500 software but it didn't do what we wanted. We serve Millions of ads per month with Webadverts. Just remember to keep at least one of your adverts weighted at 1.

Highly recommended.
