You may earn a referral fee for any qualifying items placed in a customer's shopping cart during a 24-hour window. This window begins at the time a visitor clicks through your Associates link. However, the 24-hour window will close if the customer submits his/her order or reenters Amazon.com through another Associate's link. Once the window is closed, any additional purchases will not earn referral fees for your Associates account. If the customer returns to Amazon.com through your Associates link, this will generate a new 24-hour window.

As it is, the only really positive feature is Amazon's ability to convert. The recent increase in commissions with the lifting of the cap in some categories is a modest step in the right direction.
My site has 800+ unique visitors and 2000+ pageviews daily. It deals with various free widgets throughout 21 pages.
I'd made some experiments with pay-per-lead affiliate links. I put them on certain part of the pages with daily results like this:
- top of the page, in text links and/or banners --> almost no clicks
- top menu, near the 'contact us' and 'about us' links --> almost no clicks
- page header (below top menu), in text links --> almost no clicks
- page content (along the free widgets), in text links --> few clicks with even fewer conversion
Then I decided to give pop-up/pop-exit a shot. Naturally, I don't like pop-ups. So first I created a small 2 KB pop-exit asking for newsletter subscription. Then my newsletter subscription increased by double.
This brought me to a question. What if I created a pop-exit consisting of only pay-per-lead affiliate links? I did just that, and now I'm gaining 5 US$ a day. Not much, but still better.
My conclusion: despite many dislikes toward pop-ups, some people actually pay more attention to contents inside a pop-up, since they are smaller and focused.
So now I only put the affiliate links on a single page out of 22 pages. And I'm about to go with my next experiment: to put pay-per-sale affiliate links on that single page.
Hope this helps :)
Ndaru.
Try FastClick, not big payout, but they will take your site. Also, a suggestion, to keep customers on your site, the thumbnails are not very clear - try to update them (make them more clear) and if possible link them. Cuz, people/I (I hope I can still relate myself to humans) expect that.
I hope you won't take any offence in above suggestion.
Hope this helps.
NeedScripts I know they are not that clear, but I had to do it that way to keep the page loading up faster and about the text link under the pictures I have just done that it took alot of time, before I had the link on the pictures like you said, but I changed that because a text link with the keyword to the picture is better for the search engines and now (not just because of that) Im listed perfect on Altavista and ok on Google.
About Fastclick I have submitted a form to them but no, I think they have enogh from my category or they dont like my contry I have seen that before.
Thanks

Now I dont have 120.000 visits a month, but about 195.000 visits a month and I am beginnig to think about what the chief said, that the stuff on my page is free so they will accept 1-2 pop unders, maybe only on the final site they reach.

I took a look at your web site. These are just my thoughts about it, so take it for what it's worth.
Your first page was quite slow to load on a 56k modem - took 16 seconds to be displayed. Although when it did come up it was fully displayed. You might want to play with the code so the page visibly loads bit by bit instead of being blank and then suddenly appearing fully loaded. Lots of people won't wait 16 seconds for a page to load.
I personally don't much care for pop-ups. It strikes me that pop-up's are on their way out with MSN and AOL now banning them. Pretty soon, people are no longer going to expect pop-up's (like they do now) because of this. Just my belief, but in the not so distant future, visitors are likely to start being rather hostile towards pop-ups instead of just treating them as an irriation and inconvenience (as it is today).
Also, the banner ads you displayed really didn't fit too well with the content of your site. I went into the nature wallpaper area. You have some great images that would make for good wallpaper. But your ads for SAT TV and Gambling just don't fit with the content well at all. As a nature freak, the last thing I'm looking for is gambling or SAT TV when looking for nature wallpaper site!
This is just a thought (about Nature/Scenic section only), but instead of scrunching all those non-related banner ads into your nature section, why don't you kill them off entirely and instead launch a mini-poster store of scenic nature prints and such. If someone is looking for nature wallpaper you have a decent shot in interesting them in scenic nature prints, too. After all, you said your banner ads aren't working, so you really don't have anything to lose! Allposters may not convert the greatest, but it is pathetically easy to create a mini-poster store through them.
Finally, what about Webshots? I just discovered the other day that they offer an affiliate program. They pay like 1 cent per click through, so you won't get rich on it. But their banner ads would fit in with your site and I suspect would drive some traffic to them. Although, obviously, they are a competitior in your niche.
Anyway, just my two cents worth.
Jim
If some search engines maybe bane pop ups/under I only thing it will be the case if there comes 2 or more pop ups on one page, not for one pop up/under.
About the nature section, I am just planing something about posters there, because I dont realy have anything else to put there, that relates to nature.
thanks jim
