EarthLink Inc.'s arsenal to lure away subscribers from its online rivals includes a multimillion dollar marketing campaign and new access software that will let Web surfers banish pop-up ads -- one of the most-often cited annoyances on the Web.

[biz.yahoo.com...]

What is this access software ?

Evidently, they haven't mentioned the popup blocker software yet. And it is a preview release.

If you're still using a preview release after October 1, 2002, we will remind you to use Update Manager to get the final software release

And I guess that the browser portion will be a modified MSIE or something that uses the MSIE dll's:

(Windows 98 and 98SE users must have a version of Internet Explorer with 128-bit encryption.)

moved your post to advertising, MG

pop ups/unders are doomed. I recently installed this little jewel; popupstopper. Mentioned by JamesR a year ago [webmasterworld.com], it's now among the "most popular" on at least one major download site.

Now this is interesting.

Popup killing software is great, but I doubt joe surfer will take the time to find/install it. Heck, he rarely changes his screen res.

Major ISPs making it part of their software can make a huge difference.
