Banner Ad Networks

Who should I go with?

My site gets about 150,000 pageviews per month. I'm currently using Fastclick banner ad network to deliver 468x60, popunders, and 120x600 skyscrapers on each page. The popunders open only once per user session.

The 468x60 and popunders are mostly cpm while the 120x600 are cpc. I'm getting about 1.3% click-thru on 468x60, only about 0.15% on the 120x600 and the popunders don't provide click-thru %. I'm earning about $100 per month from Fastclick. Does that seem about right?

I tried to join ValueClick but was denied for some unknown reason. I have sent two or three requests for information to DoubleClick and never heard back from them. Who are the other players in the banner ads network field? Is there someone else that you know will provide better results that Fastclick? Is there some secret to getting information about DoubleClick? Ther website is such a jumble that I couldn't figure out what services would apply to a site like mine and how to get more information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

Last I heard, Doubleclick required something like 1,000,000 impressions to qualify. That's probably why you haven't heard back from them.

Thanks for the response, Kaspian. If they do indeed require 1,000,000 per month, that's fine. But why don't they state that clearly on their site?

And I'm still holding out hope that somebody here will be able to advise me re: what other banner ad networks beside FastClick are available for sites that generate around 150,000 pageviews per month and if they are better than FastClick.

Does anybody else here use banner ad networks? What have your experiences been? Who's the best? Who's the worst?

Thanks,
Keith

Though the situation in the ad market seems bad all over you could also try Burst!

Although their name relates to the word "broke" they seem to offer reasonable rates for smaller sites

Do you have any experiences that you can relate with Burst or any other banner ad networks so I have an idea whether or not this might be a viable alternative for me? At first glance, it appears as if Burst won't work for me because they don't desire to work with search engines or portals. Thanks, LAN.

I just visited the Double Click website and after much hunting through their confusing jumble of information, I determined that Sonar is now called Audience Network. It doesn't say how many monthly impressions they require so I filled out their form and will see what happens. Thanks, Brett.

Let us know what they say in terms of required traffic at Doubleclick, I'd be curious to know what they're looking for on that Audience thing.

All I can say is I began to show advertising and Im dissapointed with the return, but my experiences are only with one company.

Basically 50% of the ads you can select are flashing or popping up, all for less that $2 CPM. 50% of the inventory you sell to B***t will be defaults, meaning you get paid nothing.

IMO, this company is good for covering your server costs and thats it, though I believe some of the longer term members get better CPM with "targetted campaigns" and an understanding of their audience.

However, it seems to me that doubleclick are the ones to be with if you have the page views to get in

Okay, I will, assuming they actually contact me. They've ignored all my previous attempts to contact them.

A large part of my inventory (don't know the percentage) at FastClick is also non-paying defaults. Of course, they are my defaults which I can choose from among the other affiliate programs I belong to and I get some click-thrus (and hopefully commissions) from those defaults.

One good thing at FastClick is that they allow you to submit rich media defaults and state that it's okay to even use the code for another ad network as one of your defaults. So if I could find another reputable ad network that would accept my 150,000 pageviews per month, I could serve their ads when FastClick runs out of inventory.

As I said in an earlier post, Burst desires not to accept search engines and portals which leaves me out. DoubleClick doesn't respond to my requests for information (as yet - there's always hope). So I'm still looking for another reputable ad network if one exists.

Thanks again, LAN, for the response.

Bateman, it was mentioned in a private forum elsewhere

I "believe" it was about the ads that were being shown, i.e. when clicking on those sites the clicker would meet some unfortunate circumstances (you know, things like no back button etc) but dont quote me on it

Im sure looking in recent forums more specific to banner networks you might find related news
