FastClick eCPM. How much is good?

After a week of watching it decline, questions.

I signed up for Fastclick a week ago and added their 728/468 combo banner to quite a few of my pages. Top of the page, prime position.

When I started, I was making .78 CPM. Then it began to go down, 75, 72, today, .65.

I've been culling out the lower paying ads regularly, but today I dashed off a note to FastClick telling them that anything under $1 to me (which would be about $1.50 total spend per 1000) is a joke and that the advertisers are getting a real deal for their money. Publishers, on the other hand, are not producing the kind of income they need to grow and prosper.

I don't know about anyone else, but ad prices on the internet need to be higher if sites are going to be able to survive on ad revenues. I have a farily good sized site, manage it actively, add pages regularly and keep content fresh, lively and hopefully, articulate and interesting.

Web publishing is an awesome medium, but the low payout for advertising is retarding its growth IMO.

I'd be grateful for any comments in regards to this situation.

You need to get with better advertisers and maybe establish some professional relationships. Advertising does pay if you find the right advertisers. Not an easy thing to do and sometimes it happens by chance but they can be found if you look hard and long enough.
