I'm looking for a good, ethical and, most importantly, cheap way to increase placement and traffic with banner adds. Anyone have any ideas? Any help appreciated.

Well, you can have a look at Adbrite, or Avnads for some cheap clicks. My experience is that you have to be very carefully though, as a click of 1 cents may be different for your website, sometimes 4-5 times more. Adbrite takes the average of all clicks on the website, divides the amount (i.e. $30 for 1 month advertising)to the click amount then finds an average click cost. The problem with this is that people advertising in the same place like "meet sexy singles" etc have better click rates, which means you'll have worse cpc for your website. One other possible problem is that some publishers stop delivering the ads in the middle of the period.
Anyway, I get $0.02 clicks in the past, all you need to do is to make a research, keep your eyes on the website traffic and click rates for a few days and then have it a go if you want.
