hi ,

this is a general question. one of my web sites ( a regional site) gets about 30,000 visits per month. people have contacted me about banner advertising. i want to use a flat rate and not cpm.

what would you charge for a 468 x 60 and a 120 x 60 banners. these banners can appear on the home page or sub pages. what flat rate would you charge for each per month.

just looking for some rough ideas. for some reason the simple things get complicated to me.

thanks a bunch.

I'd use overture and adwords to see what the cpc bid is. Using a reasonable click-thru percentage (1%-3% unless the banner or button is HIGHLY targeted), you can figure the flat rate from there. If your trafic is seasonal, don't forget to calculate an average month.

If there are no bids on the cpc programs, I'd use 10¢

so could i use this formula:

pages views (per month) x click through rate x cpc = rate for a month

Yep.

It's important to get a realistic figure for the number of visitors you'll be referring and work from there.

I've been flat-rating for 5 or 6 years now. I've found that I would have ALWAYS come out better if I had billed cpc or even cpm, but at least there's a trade-off in terms of overhead. So I let the client know he's getting a great deal by going flatrate and we're both happy.
