This is a consumer point of view. I was reading an online newspaper and I saw an ad for an exhibit in a local museum. It looked interesting, so I planned on visiting the ad after I finished reading the article. Unfortunately, by the time I finished reading the article, the ad was replaced by something else.

There's something annoying and ineffective about bombarding readers with so many ads. In a real newspaper or magazine, I can go back to the ads that I'm interested in, but online ads are just so much noise.

Here's an idea: For those online ads that cycle, how about a drop down list of ads that are in the cycle so the consumer can go back and look.

Now that's a good idea!

Sites that rotate ads in a seperate frame will not get any business from me. I really hate having to hit the back button a dozen times just to return to the page I previously looked at.
