Kid/teen website with 100,000 pageviews/day

I've been running a kid/teen website for the past five years, and have recently placed AdSense on the site.

While the initial earnings were okay, I soon began to suspect that I'd been affected by Google's "smart pricing". My clicks, being from a kid/teen audience, were not converting well - so Google reduced the amount that they were paying me. A conversation with an AdSense representative confirmed that this was happening.

For this reason, I think I'd be better off with a CPM-based ad network. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a network that might have a good inventory of kid/teen ads? And what kind of CPM should I be expecting?

Thanks,
Patrick

Before going the banner-ads route, you might want to try a couple of the other contextual ad companies, like kanoodle or contextweb.

They are working well for some as alternatives to adsense.

I have website with very young audience and AdSense isn't paying off nearly as well as for example Tribal Fusion.

I think it depends on the site, if it is not generating high clicks through rates but if it has lots of impressions, you can perform well with tribal fusion.

Well a couple things I will suggest to you. #1 your audience type is very young there for your click throughs will be very low regardless. Young audiences will not click on ads because they dont want to purchase anything and they dont want to spend time on the page. Think about the time span a young audience wants to spend looking at text on a website, next to none. Try and mould your site into something that parents would come to, get some good keywords indexed that target a different flow of traffic into your ads but keeps the same flow of young audience traffic coming to your site this way your site as a whole will do what it is supposed to do. I will stress this right now. Make sure your website is created in a way that is "funky", "unique", "energetic" make the audience grab those links and click them. Usability in your case is going to be your number 1 factor. Make up a game of some sort that will keep the audience coming back, make sure your ads are targeted properly for keywords that make sense to the younger audience. There is lots more I could ramble on about for your issues with your CTR and PPC problems. You need to really attack this site with a younger mind frame and target your ads with an older mind frame for those who will be clicking on it. Take care.
