Requesting Good Advertising Tactics

Been all around the web. Done advertising from here to China using 25 different methods. From Opt-in email to actual search engine placement. Other than getting a consultant of which I request your help. Is there any other methods of advertising anyone has used or services that really brought in the roos. We are a new company and really need to get people that are serious, not curious to join the site. Please advise.

Yes, we have.. Unfortunately we do not have the MONEY to do an affiliates program. They are very expensive and would not benefit us at this time. We would be spending more to try and make something. But your idea has prompted a response. We are going to build our own affiliate program on our site and run it as a promotion. Could we possibly promote on your network? In an email or in banner form? Something cheap?

There is no easy answer to this question because one needs to know what you are marketing and how effective you advertisements are.

It is possible that you are not targeting well enough or that your copy needs some work.

If you can't afford a consultant, you might try to vary you audience and copy and make test mailings until you find a combination that works for your product.

Hello and thanks for the response.. We have used a combination of tactics. Some digests suggest that targetting does not work, other think it does. We have done the best we can on the budget we have. Being listed in the search engines is a great advantage. I should probably not expect too much in 15 days. Maybe the fact that 170 people have joined is a +. Does anyone have any ideas of best targeting people between 18 and 99. Should we target? The ideas suggested so far have been good, but I think it best in everyones interests for us to develop the best way to get customers cheaply. Now.. who's next. :)

Yes, yes, yes.

Looking at the site in your profile, you don't just want to target all adults. Your target audience is younger to middle aged Australians. If you are dead set on CPM advertising, try to find sites/ezines with this user demographic.

Affiliate programs are very strong/popular for online dating. You can pay based on performance, so you only pay when you get actual site members.

You will need to be patient. It won't happen quickly, especially on a limited budget. What you can do in the meantime, is read, read, and read some more on these forums, and learn good SEO skills. They are invaluable, and the info is right here for the harvesting.

As a side note, you are hurting yourself with a flash-only homepage. You will lose some visitors, and good SEO is much more difficult. Topics like these are covered in depth in the various forums.

Right - seo may take 60 days + more to tweak it.

Have you ever thought of trading out - either with a magazine, billboard, or radio station? Depending on the content maybe one of the media outlets would do a trade either hald or full trade. That means they may give you a reduced rate or do an even trade so you don't have to pay anything. Ask around and let me know what you find out!
