adwords keyword estimates

how far off is it ?

I have completed a 12 hour test
Put a "limited" amount of money in a new Ad Campaign
Bid on only 6 keywords
Got 4.05% CTR
Spent about $40

Now the KW estimator is so far off that I just can't trust it.
It says that on one KW we can expect to pay US$4,191.00 per day

We should have burned through the money in just a few hours BUT we didn't ????

Just a guess, but it could be that the ads weren't up during the period when Google gets hit hard with rank chaecking programs.
