Links automatically added to selected keywords

Many major site's and I am sure some advertising programs use this. I want to find information on how this is done, and what I would need to do as a webmaster to make my site compatible with this.

Basically, when I add new posts, articles, or news items, or blogs the pre-selected keywords are automatically converted to the PPC text ads of a given company.

Does anyone know what type of program's use this?
How would I implement something similar for a smaller company that advertises with one of my website's?

There is a service called IntelliTXT that does this, Vibrant Media offers it. They require a lot of traffic to be considered, though (half a million page views a month). I believe you can simply drop the code into the page to make it work. Sticky me for an example if you want.

It's also bundled as spyware in some instances (TopText/eZula). You can contact either of them to get started, depending on your preferences.

I'm not sure how you'd build such a program from scratch, however.

Clicksor also offers this kind of ads. It is just a java script. You also can do it on your own. Definde the keywords, define the ppc link for each one (use some ppc xml or text feeds) and put them in a pretty simple javascript on your page and voila.....

How about a database program that you can use with MySQL? I'd like to be able to define my own keywords and link those to another page, affiliate program, other internal page etc. Is this just a wack of programming or is there something out there available?

It looks like spyware to the unsuspecting user, I know I had something like that that infected my PC - took ages to get off. Make sure you don't confuse it with the legitimate way.

Well, when user hovers over the link you might put a text (something like this maybe: "Mysite.com recommends you:..." along with link description and actual adlink.... this way it will be clear that there is no spyware involved and everything is there because the webmaster wanted it...
It is just an idea.

I do not know if it something already available that you could use ... but if there isn't it should be done don't you think? :) (you just gave me an ideea, I'll make some research...)

A lot of CMS offer the option to "filter" the content before it is shown to the visitor. You could then use a parser that replaces [value x] with a link.
