I have some question's before I am flamed I will give a brief explanation.

I was laid off from my job about 9 month's ago with a broken ankle, 3 month's later they would not rehire me. During my 3 month's of job hunting (with no success), I was developing a few hobby site's.

A couple month's ago I added Adsense to one of them and was quickly making $3 per day. I was shocked to see I could make a little money, then decided to do a few more and try to make some more money. Those site's are starting to get up on the SERP now.

I found this Affiliate area, and am totally new to it and have some question's on it. I am not a noob simply surfing, I am not asking for complete instruction, just a few tips. I know how to optimize for search engines fairly well, I know how to code, and I have a couple dedicated server's to start with. I have read 12 thread's in their entirety (including the wonderful 35 page thread). I am simply tired of reading after these few hours, and was hoping for direct answer's not flames.

How many affilate programs are there? I only know of Amazon.
What is an affiliate site? I don't even know if I have seen one.
Will using sub-domain's work well, or should I only buy a new domain for each site?
Do you also use incoming advertising(aka Adsense), or only outgoing advertising money(aka Ezine's & Adwords), or should you use both?

I know many of you are making much more than $300 per day, I would kill to just make more than $100 per day. Everyone in here seem's to have a $10 per day site. Can you please post just one URL? Everyone has these privacy issue's it seem's. I only want to see one of these site's and try to dissect how I should start, or even what the site's look like.

Thank's in advance for any help you can offer. I plan to be a long time member of these forum's.

Welcome to Webmaster World just_trying!

How many affilate programs are there? I only know of Amazon.
There are literally hundreds of thousands affiliate programs out there on the net. I suggest you find an affiliate program directory for a little help in choosing the right one(s). You may also want to sign up to services such as "Commision Junction" which is basically a huge collection of affiliate programs all together.

What is an affiliate site? I don't even know if I have seen one.
I believe that a service like Commision Junction or Performics is considered an affiliate site. It may also be an online affiliate program web directory.

Will using sub-domain's work well, or should I only buy a new domain for each site?
It is generally a better idea to have a new domain for each type/category of site you make. If all of your sites/pages fall into the same category, then sub domains should be all right.

Do you also use incoming advertising(aka Adsense), or only outgoing advertising money(aka Ezine's & Adwords), or should you use both?
If your website sells services or products, I believe you should use both. If you only provide information, you would probably want to stick to mostly incoming advertising. However if you want your incoming advertising to prosper and grow, you may want to consider some outgoing as well. In a way, it's all one big circle.

Can you please post just one URL? Everyone has these privacy issue's it seem's.
I'm sorry, Webmaster World stricly prohibits the posting of promotional URL's. This is to make sure that this board remains spam-free. It's a lot cleaner environment when no URL's are allowed to be posted. If you ever look at some of the other Webmaster Forums that allow the posting of URL's, you will probably find that those boards of full of spam and refferal links.

I hope this helps, and best of luck to you and your site!

So let's say we have a site with great content and have hypothetically set up an affiliate relationship with Amazon or another. What are the most efficient ways to mechanically link the two. I mean you can create a store with an XML data feed but there must be a preferred way to meld your stuff with their stuff and not look like junk that would be of interest to no one.

Welcome to Webmasterworld!

Search Google for "Buy Widget" -the "Widget" being your favorite product line. Look at the sites that appear within first 10 to 20 positions. You are more than likely to find a handful of successful aff sites there.

While it may be fun and educational to study those sites -be careful about blindly replicating their ways. If you duplicate any (dark hat) techniques that some spammers may be using with their throw-away domains, you may earn yourself a long sentense in google jail/litterbox. Not passing a judgement here -just pointing out that how/what you learn/adopt from those sites may determine color of your hat.

Read through this forum as much as you can --it's loaded with a lot of useful information.
