Which program to use to send out a newsletter?

I have around 1000 subscribers to my newsletter and until now I used to send it out by actually typing in email address and the name of each subscriber into my site's auto responder but it is now taking too much time to do it by hand.
Can anyone recommend a program that would do it automatically and would it then be considered a spamm? (I need the email that is send out to be able to also take into account the first name of each subscriber).

Thanks.

Hey Michael.

You may want to try using cooleremail [http://www.cooleremail.com]

It will allow you to import all those contacts into your list and send to individuals or the whole list. I just tried it on a trial basis and will probably use it in the future.
Prices are very affordable and it handles bounces and opt out options for your users.

pretty cool.

I've been looking for a program similar to this too...

bongymon - does Cooleremail handle autoresponders?

Sarkye,
As far as I know it does not handle autoresponders. I know of a good script that handles form input's and then sends an auotoresponse to the user. is that what you're looking for?

Bingymon - Thank you but I don't think that would work if it's just for form inputs, but tell me about the script anyway - may come in handy later on for something else :)

[bignosebird.com...]

I've found it to be pretty handy when I need to do something fast.

Is anyone familiar with Corey Rudl's MailLoop 5.0 software. From the description on his site it appears to be exactly what I need. It costs $379 so I am hesitant to buy it before I hear from someone who has actually used it.

Thanks.

Michael I tested Mailloop 4.XX for a client a while back and while it's features were fantastic, it was *really* hard to learn because it was designed by programmers *for* programmers. Apparently though, since Rudl bought the rights to Mailloop he's had the interface redesigned for v5 so that it's easy for the average user to handle.

Feature-wise, I'd say it's an awesome program but it *is* expensive. He often has specials at his site - might be worth waiting to see if offers one on Mailloop.

If you know perl, it would be really easy to do (less than 15 lines!), using the modules on CPAN (specifically MailTools)

You could also use something like Act or Maximiser, both of which integrate with your email program and include most of the bells and whistles such as allowing you to insert fields into your messages and the likes.

A thought...
