A press release about Advertising statistics:

Advertising spending for all media fell 5.9% for the first half of 2001 compared to first-half revenues in 2000
Add this article about other advertising and you have a pretty complete picture of what's happening out there.

9/2000 GoTo staffed an entire department to target the major WWW ad buyers.

Not listing GoTo was an oversite on their part.

[irconnect.com...]

"In recent months, GoTo's targeted, Pay-For-Performance advertising proposition has attracted a broad cross-section of the Internet's leading brands, including CarsDirect.com, eBay, Eddie Bauer, E*Trade, Hewlett-Packard, Home Depot and techies.com. "

Added:
On the other hand it is not advertising.
Targeted introductions are "Targeted Introductions"
Think about it :)

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- As third-quarter pre-announcement season picks up, few companies are staying above the early-fall pummeling.

GoTo.com traded at $14.37 in the early going, up 6 percent on the day. It's trading well above its 52-week low of $4.81 struck in December of last year.
