Hi Everyone,
I was hoping to get some insight on this. I have heard that BeFree, LinkShare and Commission Junction all have a company called 180Solutions signed up with them. I heard that anyone who has 180Solutions Adware, or spyware, whichever it is, downloaded to their computer, and that person clicks on an affiliate tracking link powered by one of the above companies, that the link gets tracked back to 180Solutions and the commission sale is lost for the web site who actually referred the buyer.

180Solutions claims this is false and their system only keeps track of the appropriate pop up for the subject the person is looking at. They claim they do not alter the tracking code and they are members of the above companies because of the key word pop ups they place. They say their system backs down when an affiliate link is clicked and they do not change the tracking code.

Any insight you can give on the subject would be most helpful.

Google "180solutions affiliate links" and you'll find tons of information. One of the problems with 180solutions is that they may not target affiliate links themselves, but some of their advertisers might. The end result to the affiliate is the same.

DogLover, I have personally observed the behaviors that you describe in your first paragraph. From time to time I have prepared video and packet log proof -- for affiliates who are being harmed; for merchants; etc. There can be no serious doubt about what occurs, notwithstanding 180's various claims and attempted defenses.

Seems Advertising.com is one of the few aff. networks not allowing them.
