if the majority of reviews and/or feedback is negative

... is there a real point in placing affiliate links to the product on the same page?

my guess is that if it's just one review/feedback - then yes. if it's a handful of mixed ones, then yes. If the content of the review is not very authoritative, then yes.

but if there's 10 reviews, and 8 of them are bad - then I'd say no, and it would be better to add a link or content for alternative products that are better reviewed.

Anyone has any other perspectives on this?

I wouldn't create a review site that has bad reviews on 8 out 10. People are looking for a site with "GOOD" review. If you can find good sites to give good reviews, I think you may want to try harder(?) or choose another topic.

I don't show any sites that don't deserve good reviews. :)

my users post the reviews - so i can't help it if they find that say 'widget x' sucks real bad :) - in fact it does help from a consumer point of view to know which products to stay away from!... what then happens is i get users writing 'i was about to buy x when i decided to check out feedback on it, and im glad i found this site'.
