Hey,

I am looking for a merchant for my newest site, and this time I have a lot of choice.

Should I go with the one with the highest EPC? There are others that pay 10% commission rather than the 5% that the highest EPC Merchant Pays. But it would seem that the higer EPC Merchant, although paying a lower % must convert better.

I will probably test later on, but I would like an opinion.

Thanks.

To your Success,

C.K.

I have done very well with a low epc merchant and bad with high epc merchants. My advice, pay no attention to EPC, sell the products that you have traffic for. Nothing wrong with promoting 2 merchants that sell the same product.

I'd say sign up for both - most often they may have different catalog of complimentary or related products.

You can also list both entries (and both prices) so this gives the surfer a choice - which doesnt matter anyway since it both goes to your pockets.

Or, you can pick one, stay with it for a week, then try the other.

Or, yet another idea, if you know some server side scripting, you can alternate the ads for every page view - you'll get an exact 50-50 split of impressions and you can check which one converts better.

If it's on CJ and you want to do 50/50, put both ads in a smartzone. Put the smartzone html on your page, then both ads get served half the time.

Hey,

Thanks. Is it possible to run my own text in the smart zone with a text link to the merchant?

What's been posted earlier. Try them both out. The only important EPC is your EPC with the merchant, how you're doing with them, not how other people are doing with them. One of my best merchants at CJ has a horrible EPC. Could be i just found out the best way to market them.

Not sure, I haven't been doing it very long myself. Banners I understand, but some of the link types on cj aren't clear to me yet. Give it a try and tell me if it works ;)
