Large CPM Networks

When is it time to apply?

One of my sites is currently getting page views in the millions and I'm wondering if it may be worth my while to try applying for one of the large CPM networks like Max Online or 24/7. Up to this point, we've been running the likes of Tribal Fusion, and other networks of that tier. This site is in its fifth year of operation, and the only other sites that likely get more traffic than us are a small handful of sites owned by major media corporations.

So far, I've been a tad hesitant to apply, since my site is privately owned, basically started out of my friend and I's basement, and now, five years later, is becoming a major player in terms of traffic and industry recognition. So I guess my question to those in the know is how difficult is it to get into one of these large CPM networks for a privately owned site? Are we facing an uphill battle to be recognized? Is it worth our time to apply?

I guess I should be clear (and not write messages at 3 in the morning :p ). I'm just checking to see if anyone knows if some of the criteria for the large cpm networks. Ie. Is it strictly a traffic thing, or is there more to it?

Also, checking to see if there are any major draw backs to them, as compared to medium, and lower tiered cpm networks.

Traffic levels are definitely a concern but I'd imagine the largest factor in allowing new sites into a network is the quality of traffic. Also, the subject matter is probably a consideration as well.

For example, I highly doubt any reputable network is going to allow an "mp3 site" into their network.
