Is this way of cloaking CJ and LinkShare links ok?

Is using only the link that links to product page ok?

Commission Junction and LinkShare affiliate networks give code to place on your website in order to promote their merchants.

This code usually consists of 3 parts.

1) Link to product page
2) Link to product image
3) Link to image which is 1 pixel in width and 1 pixel in height.

Is it ok to use only the 1) (link to product page) by omitting the 2) and 3)?

I don't want to paste the exact code that Commission Junction and LinkShare supports on my website because the banners or text links may be blocked by antivirus software.

So I just use a javascript redirect to redirect visitors directly to 1) (Link to product page) and not using the 2) and 3) links.

Is that ok and won't I lose commissions for doing that?

I do something similar with a server redirect and it works just fine. As long as the cookie is getting set you don't have anything to worry about.

But what is the 3) (the small 1 pixel sized image) for?

If I omit to use this link, won't I lose any commissions?

The 1x1 px image is typically used just for tracking the number of impressions. Not sure if CJ limits it's use to this, or if they also pass transaction data through the image's URL.

The 1x1 pixel is for tracking impressions only. This will help you determine your Click Through Rate (CTR). It's optional. Don't let the "Do not make any modifications to this code" scare you. It's just a way for them to ease their tech support lines.
