Hi guys

As the header makes obvious, I'm just jumping into this for the first time after lurking on several affiliate marketing forums for the past couple of months. I'd like to try it out and see where it gets me.

I just registered with commission junction and have set up an active account with one of their merchants.

The problem now, is finding my distinct link that I'll use to direct traffic to the merchants site and receive my commissions per lead.

Where do I find this link?

There are about 60 different graphics/banner advertisements that it looks like I can use, but I'm not interested in that as my first campaign is going to be with Google's adwords. I notice on the right-hand side of the screen is a 'get html' link for each advertisement graphic. Is one piece of those strings of html code what I need to be using? And is there any way to give my referral link a trial to know that it works okay?

I'm kind of at water's edge here tiptoeing around..

Find a basic text link, and strip out the "http etc. bit and you have the linking code. To test it, just cut and paste into your browser. To make a test purchase, contact the merchant to ask how.

Okay, I'll try that with one of the text links..

So basically, all of these individual links that I'm seeing to the merchant I plan to advertise all have my affiliate link in the url?

It's confusing, because each link is different. Even the several "text only" links have different characters in the string after the http.
