Seems like an interesting program for buying traffic AND selling ads. Any good/bad experiences with them?

I like their customer service. It is extremely quick and efficient. They now have their own support telephone number. The only thing I do not like is the high charge on selling ads (25%).

You mean they take 25% cut on all clicks? Sounds reasonable..

They take 25% off of your revenue. So if you earn $100, you only get $75. I think selling text links manually is the better choice...

Is there a marketplace for selling text links? Maybe some kind of a forum?

as a buyer of ads, my one experience with adbrite was terrible.

their estimate of potential clicks - the only barometer one can use when deciding to purchase ads - was way off the mark (in my case, over 90% off.)

and yes, i was using a highly targeted ad with the right audience... an ad that has performed well on other networks.

interestingly, i noticed that the overall performance quoted on adbrite for the site i bought did not dip significantly to correspond with my poor performance that week. there was only one other ad running on the site... and that means hat they would have had to have nearly double the number of projected clicks, while i had next to nothing, in order for the estimate of clicks to remain relatively stable.

highly unlikely.

as for customer service... uh, no.

i e-mailed them the second day of my scheduled 7-day run to ask about how we could improve this non-performing campaign and to express my concern that clicks were 90% off their estimates.

i wrote them again on day 4.

i received a "we can't do anything about it" e-mail on day 7.

I think they take the 50% share on run-of-network clicks and yes, 25% of that you sold yourself.

But.. Not really bad as the cpm is around 10 cents, what is bad is that the payment terms is net 90.

From their FAQ:

When will AdBrite send my check?

AdBrite issues payment in US Dollars on a net-90 basis and mails checks on the last Thursday of every month. If your net-90 revenue does not meet your minimum check amount, this revenue will roll over to the following month. Your minimum check amount is $20.00 by default, but you may change it to any value you like - even $0.00.

Why does AdBrite issue payment on a net-90 basis?
This is an anti-fraud measure protects you from billing disputes, as most credit card companies do not allow chargebacks after 90 days.

As a publisher, Adbrite had one serious defect: publishers had no way to ban objectionable ads. That killed it for me. I had three ok ads and 1 wacko religious ad. It wasn't worth the payout to have that kind of ad on my site. A real deal killer. Plus the CTR was quite abysmal compared to Adsonar or Adsense.

As a publisher we were very disappointed with Adbrite. So we dropped them.

A better, and yet similar operation is Linkworth, who while we weren't overly impressed with (in terms of revenue), do pay on time.

net-X means you will be paid X days after end of each month. For example, the earnings of Jan01-Jan31 will be mailed 90 days after the end of the month, which means Feb, Mar and April will be passed (roughly) and your check will be mailed, + the postage time.

whats the story with linkworth? any use to this service? i like the concept of selling links on a monthly basis but has anyone found this to be successful? do you have control over limiting the content of the links? are there any other services like this?
