All of a sudden Mamma media takes away a buttload of my impressions, especially my popup impressions - from 44000 down to 8000:

At 6:13 EST:

Updated 01/31/2005 06:13 EST
Popups/Popunders
CPM Campaigns
44,559 37 0.08% $1.03 $45.76

At 20:13 EST:

Updated 01/31/2005 20:13 EST
Popups/Popunders
CPM Campaigns
8,907 18 0.20% $1.00 $8.87

Am I missing somthing? Am I getting ripped off or is this some accounting thing I'm totally ignorant about?

Total impressions for January: 352811

I'm not sure if you are getting screwed... but when I did ppc advertising on mamma.com i would go days without much traffic and then hit sudden spikes of obviously fake traffic. I dont trust this company at all.

So I take it this is not normal? This isn't some sort of common adjustment at the end of the month type of thing? This is my first experience using an ad network. Before I only had adsense.

The better networks wouldn't accept my site so if this is the way it is I guess I either have to eat it or quit. Any suggestions on a better network on the same tier as Mamma?

If I am understanding your figures correctly

1. You have averaged around 11,000 impressions a day in January
2. On this particular day you had impressions downed from 44,500 to 8,900 for that day
3. Without further info, it looks as if the 8,900 for the day is the fairer indication of your average daily impressions

Those are monthly totals, not daily totals. Total popup impressions from 11 January (when I opened the account) to 31 January was :

44,559.

Then all of a suddenly on the same day the total went down to :

8,850.

I've sent them an email about it yesterday but no response yet. No matter what the reason is I think it's disrespectful of them not to tell me in advance what this is all about. There's nothing on the site explaining how this could happen. So either it's a glitch in their accounting system or they are blatantly trying to cheat me.

Here is the response I received. Does this seem fishy to anyone?

ironman,

Sorry for this off topic reply.

What's mamma? Is it a contexual ads program or traditional graphical ads?

Thanks.

I was using their codes on my pages and had no clicks (yes, didn't had even 1) with CPM campaigns, while, at the same time my default banners which looking as the background (which means they were invisible) had hundreds of clicks in a week :)

that's really true. my invisible default banners had hundreds of clicks but CPM campaigns didn't even had 1.

I could post a screenshot of that if the forum had this feature. Anyway, Mamma was one of the last companies that I would expect something like that.

That's hilarious. But if there was nothing to click on why would anyone click in that area of the page? Where exactly was the invisible area located? Near a menu bar perhaps?

No, that was a skyscraper on the left of each page.

The menu on the website was just as menu of this forum:

Home / Forums Index / The Advertising World / Advertising Sales and Affiliate Programs

I mean, some space for both logo & banner at the top, then comes the menu. My logo was at the top-left corner just like webmasterworld, and there was a 468x60 banner on the top-right corner, and that invisible banner had numerous clicks, too.

Sincee the email was edited out of this thread, can you summarize to us what they told you and what seemed fishy about it?

They basically said they made an "internal system upgrade" that inflated impressions for a week. Not very informative but since I don't use an adserver yet I have no way of verifying their claim.
