Would it be out of line to post my site here and ask for tips from anyone willing to provide? I consider it much more of a useful site then an ad. The ad thing was always second for me. I did the site for a hobby. Anyway just give me the ok, I don't want to get kicked my first day here.
Thanks, Shane
Is this thru PPC or organic SE results?
I've been at this aff game for a few years now. Just dabbling part time but rarely make more than a few bucks profit per day. I build good clean sites with unique content. None are very big, maybe 50-100 pages.
I have never asked "how" people make this money per day. But now I will.
HOW?
It doesn't seem to matter what I do. I only ever get 50 - 100 visitors per day. Maybe I'm targetting the wrong fields.

If you are writing about movies... then anyone coming through one of your ads about "lord of the rings" will read what you have written "how wonderful the movie is... blah blah blah" then think... "oh lord! I must watch this!" and then click on an affiliate ad to buy the movie.. you get a percentage of the profit say 10% that's "maybe" $5 so you have converted!
That's business on the net :)
You can start with a small investment of $20 or so [on adwords or overture] to see how it goes and then decide which feild is converting the best for you.
Sorry if I hijacked the thread a bit there

<added> I cannot use adwords on this paricular site as I will get chucked out for breach of TOS</added>
That's why I stopped having a regular job... so I didn't have to worry about money instead of tracking how much I was making and how much I was spending and when my next payrise would be etc.
I'm also curious as to how to reach $1000/day - this can only be done (in my unknowledgeable opinion) through PPC...
I'm sure it's easiest and fastest with PPC, but that's certainly not the only way. I hit that in 5 months on my first site with only organic search, word of mouth, and free publicity. I hit it on another site in 2 months with purely organic search traffic. I hit it on a third site in about 15 months, with primarily organic search, word of mouth, and free publicity.
Is this from sales or adsense?
Virtually all from affiliate programs. Less than 5% from AdSense.
if from sales, are they very high priced items? can you tell us if the products are in the top 3-4 industries(adult, meds, gambling, financial)?
Mostly low-ticket items (under $20). None of them are in any of those industries. I don't promote adult, meds, gambling, alcohol, or tobacco due to personal convictions.
...and,btw, does that mean you're pulling in excess of $3k PER DAY?....
No. Each site hit $1000 per day at different times.
The industry for the first site has passed it's heyday. It's generating about 10% of what it did at it's peak. It's still a very respectible income, but under $1000 per day.
The second site was a SEO surprise. Although it wasn't intended for search engines, Google ate it up and generated a considerable amount of traffic, earnings, and profits. Then about six months later, Google dropped the site due to duplicate content. It has minimal income now.
The third site has been up for a couple years and is running full steam now.
The fourth site is almost done. I think this could be even bigger than the third site.
The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth sites are planned. Domains are registered. Affiate programs are joined. I just need to build them and promote them. I think they all have huge potential.
One more question - what are your views as far as positioning of adsense and affiliate links on the same page (assuming your sites do have them on the same page) is there any optimal positioning that you've found that works?
I use AdSense on most of my pages. I monitor the effective CPC that I get from both AdSense and the various affiliate programs. I usually do quite a bit better with the affiliate programs, so I don't give AdSense as much exposure. I haven't found that AdSense reduces my affiliate income.
Are there any UK members who've reached the £53.07/day in one or two months?
