Curious how long it took everyone here to hit the $100.00/day mark with their site.

2 years and a few months.

But it's only since about a half year ago that I've been focusing on improving my revenue.. And since then it grew seriously.

It is also important to specify whether you mean

$100/day in revenue or net profit. In the beginning I'm sure people might hit $100/day in revenue, but spend about $20-40 or more to get that $100.

Good point, yea I ment 100 a day profit. :-)

Would it be out of line to post my site here and ask for tips from anyone willing to provide? I consider it much more of a useful site then an ad. The ad thing was always second for me. I did the site for a hobby. Anyway just give me the ok, I don't want to get kicked my first day here.

Thanks, Shane

how you measure the time will radically change the answers you're getting.

from the point where I started making money, I was over 100$/day in less than a month. but before that I had web development experience completely as a hobby. I was doing that for well over a year.

Disgust,

Yea I've been a developer for about 8 years now. I work as a application developer cfm/sql. I'm relatively new though to the Google adsense program and affiliates in general. Less then a month is great though, bet your stoked.

Thanks, Shane

Less then a month? For 100$ profit a day - seriously?

For my first site (back before PPC and without any advertising): 3 months. Then another 2 months to hit $1000 per day.

For subsequent sites: Less than a month.

Um, did you read the TOS? That's probably the forum's biggest no-no. If you want to give out your URL for critique, ask people to sticky mail you, and then give it to them that way.

A question for everyone who does $100 a day in less than a month.

Is this thru PPC or organic SE results?

I've been at this aff game for a few years now. Just dabbling part time but rarely make more than a few bucks profit per day. I build good clean sites with unique content. None are very big, maybe 50-100 pages.

I have never asked "how" people make this money per day. But now I will.

HOW?

It doesn't seem to matter what I do. I only ever get 50 - 100 visitors per day. Maybe I'm targetting the wrong fields.

Like every business... there are no returns without investment. If you are sure that you are building good websites which gives some valuable information to the users then you need to sign-up with adwords or overture to bring in quality traffic into the website. Spend $.1 per clieck and put adsense and other affiliate deals on your pages.

If you are writing about movies... then anyone coming through one of your ads about "lord of the rings" will read what you have written "how wonderful the movie is... blah blah blah" then think... "oh lord! I must watch this!" and then click on an affiliate ad to buy the movie.. you get a percentage of the profit say 10% that's "maybe" $5 so you have converted!

That's business on the net :)

You can start with a small investment of $20 or so [on adwords or overture] to see how it goes and then decide which feild is converting the best for you.

Hi, Thanx!
I am quite an experienced affiliate and already have ppc campaigns running for other stuff direct to merchant. They are successful. To a degree. In fact I have one campaign that converts at about 10%. I am familiar with all the nasty tricks including redirects and cloaking. I just wanna do this long term and reasonably legit. Yeah I can make $200 bucks a day using trickery n all that but it will last a few days then die. My legit sites have a coversion rate of 0.3%
which I think is hideously low. I don't "know" anyone else in the aff business so I can't compare. I have no idea if my processes are "correct". I am part time at the mo so don't have time to constantly build sites that convert for a bit then get chucked out of the serps.

Sorry if I hijacked the thread a bit there

Ska

<added> I cannot use adwords on this paricular site as I will get chucked out for breach of TOS</added>

Hey,

So do you think $1500 per month by the end of 3 months is a good mark?

BTW I don't work right now, so I can devote a lot time to this. I think this is actually a quite acheivable figure.

About 18 months, but, to be honest, it really wasn't and isn't my main priority. My main priority was to have more time to spend with friends and go out and go on holiday etc.

That's why I stopped having a regular job... so I didn't have to worry about money instead of tracking how much I was making and how much I was spending and when my next payrise would be etc.

saline:

$100/day in 6 months, all through organic serps. No PPC though.

BTW, I also do cfm/sql.

I'm also curious as to how to reach $1000/day - this can only be done (in my unknowledgeable opinion) through PPC...

I'm sure it's easiest and fastest with PPC, but that's certainly not the only way. I hit that in 5 months on my first site with only organic search, word of mouth, and free publicity. I hit it on another site in 2 months with purely organic search traffic. I hit it on a third site in about 15 months, with primarily organic search, word of mouth, and free publicity.

MovingOnUp:

Is this from sales or adsense?

if from sales, are they very high priced items? can you tell us if the products are in the top 3-4 industries(adult, meds, gambling, financial)?

...and,btw, does that mean you're pulling in excess of $3k PER DAY?....

Is this from sales or adsense?

Virtually all from affiliate programs. Less than 5% from AdSense.

Mostly low-ticket items (under $20). None of them are in any of those industries. I don't promote adult, meds, gambling, alcohol, or tobacco due to personal convictions.

...and,btw, does that mean you're pulling in excess of $3k PER DAY?....

No. Each site hit $1000 per day at different times.

The industry for the first site has passed it's heyday. It's generating about 10% of what it did at it's peak. It's still a very respectible income, but under $1000 per day.

The second site was a SEO surprise. Although it wasn't intended for search engines, Google ate it up and generated a considerable amount of traffic, earnings, and profits. Then about six months later, Google dropped the site due to duplicate content. It has minimal income now.

The third site has been up for a couple years and is running full steam now.

The fourth site is almost done. I think this could be even bigger than the third site.

The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth sites are planned. Domains are registered. Affiate programs are joined. I just need to build them and promote them. I think they all have huge potential.

Thanks for sharing so much information, and sorry if I keep on picking your brains.

One more question - what are your views as far as positioning of adsense and affiliate links on the same page (assuming your sites do have them on the same page) is there any optimal positioning that you've found that works?

I'm glad to share, especially if it gives others some hope.

I use AdSense on most of my pages. I monitor the effective CPC that I get from both AdSense and the various affiliate programs. I usually do quite a bit better with the affiliate programs, so I don't give AdSense as much exposure. I haven't found that AdSense reduces my affiliate income.

would it be true to say that reaching the $100/day is a lot easier targeting the US market than it is targeting the UK market (obviously converting the $100 to whatever the current exchange rate gives us in £). Not just the size of the market, but maybe the differences in the way people buy online etc etc

Are there any UK members who've reached the £53.07/day in one or two months?

It took me one small update named Allegra to drop over $100/day in a very short period of time. Easy come...
