0 Page Rank - number 1 in the SERPS

How is that possible?

Forgive me if I'm being stupid but how can a site with a 0 page rank be number one in the SERPS for a very popular search term?

Also..

How come on one of my sites google reported it having numerous inbound links and today it says there are none when those links still exist?

You probably put the page up after the Google PR update (a couple of weeks ago, I think) and/or its a new term/uncommon term. Congratulations. :)
