I'm an Amazon associate and something wonders me.

There are two different structures: classic and performance. But why exactly would someone choose for classic? Has this structure any benefits over performance?

As far as I can see the performance structure offers nothing than benefits over the classic structure. You get payed at least 1% more simply by selecting this structure.

So why do they still keep the classic structure?

The Classic is a loser. If an Associate doesn't choose Performance then they are automatically put in Classic. IMO Amazon did this because there are probably several hundred thousand Associates that just don't follow it anymore and Amazon can make it a little more lucrative for those that do.

I'm wondering if Amazon is going to start closing inactive Associate accounts, or accounts that bring in less than xx in a quarter--and this is the first step down that road. CJ does it.

Pure speculation on my part, of course.
