..is this a factor in end-of-year inventory dropoffs? Is anyone else seeing this?

Yes, my CPM has dropped about $1, but this is just the usual changes and it will go up eventually.

It has dropped about $1? If I had that drop, I would be earning -.50.
How do you achieve such high CPM in Fastclick?

Well I have a large website so I have a lot of traffic so my eCPM is high.

All the banner advertisers have been doing poorly for me. It's getting to the point where I can make more with Adsense and AM, and I'm seriously considering getting rid of my banners entirely. As it stands, I've already reduced banner presence on my site to 50%, and I'm looking to do even more...

Only dropoffs I tend to see is the flow of my traffic based on how much love the SE's are showing my site at the moment.
With the uptick of traffic for holidays and a change at G in mid Dec my cpm is up quite a bit - but this is just one example.
