I have been trying to get going with Affiliate programs, Google adwords and many other things.
I don't know about you guys, but I always learn better by example, something that I can reproduce somehow.

Anyway, long story short, what I am hoping to do, is a mentoring ring of some sort. Where 5 or 6 of us communicate via IM or email, and help each other with whatever needs to be done. Like feedback for new sites, good affiliate programs, good running keywords on Google, etc................

I think that if we could be a group, and share our goals, and other things, that we could be very successful.

I hope that somebody experienced would take us on, and mentor us.

You probably think, well that's what those forums are for. As of now I have NOT seen anybody give somebody else GOOD advice. Mostly because they feel like they need to keep the whole cake.

I can't wait to get your feedback on this. I hope you'll agree.
I don't want to fail to become a super affiliate, it be easier together with you.

Its very hard to compel experience AMs to share their "secrets" to beginners. These experienced AMs were once beginners too and I guess they became what they are now because they worked hard on learning those "tricks" by themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if they expect beginners to learn the same way they did.

I understand that some of them might think this way, butI have been reading, and buying material online, I would like to speed things up, what's wrong with that?
I just think that we could make a difference in numbers, with our combined knowledge and experience.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Basically you're accusing the veterans in here of purposely misleading people, and worst, sabotaging them. And then you expect them to fall all over themselves to help you out so you can "speed things along" because, apparently, you're just too lazy to learn things on your own, and dammit, people need to get off their butts and tell you everything already. And oh, you bought a book on this stuff, so of course you've exerted ALL your options, and just needs the answers -- like, NOW.

And to be quite honest, it really does not take THAT much knowledge to start making money. Anyone with an ounce of scripting knowledge can put out pages like that, and be on it's way to making a few hundred bucks a month. It's THAT easy. Now, if you're starting out (as I recall when I was starting out) was that there was just too much information out there, and I was trying to absorb everything and only then, apply every single concept to it's perfect form in order to have a super duper optimized page that would rank 1 in the serps. The quick recipe:

1) build a site (either your own content, or data driven content) with affiliate links and adsense
2) read up on some SEO, and _kinda_ go along with what they say (i.e. title tags, h1 tags) - don't dwell too much on it
3) dedicate some serious time to do some link exchanges

If you're not doing this, why not? and if you are, what do you think is failing?

The big bucks, well that's a different beast alltogether, one which I'm still tackling.

btw, there are such thing as networking and getting help from the pros - but the question that you have to answer is, are you at the level of knowledge where you can absorb what they're telling you? and better yet, can you show them you're worth their while? usually that means you have to be making some bucks already...a bit of like the snake biting it's tail, but that's the reality of things. The 3 point list I laid out above as I said should be enough to get anyone started in making some money...

I don't think Colonel Sanders would be willing to share his secret ingredients with the world either. It's called competitive advantage.

I feel it's important to give back to the community, and I try and share as much as my time allows. However, I'm still in the game actively marketing products so I haven't turned to full-time teaching yet. Maybe after I write my eBook ;)

On a serious note, I think you have a great idea and I hope you have some takers. I met another full-time AM in my industry and we give each other feedback all the time. It has been beneficial to both of us.

thank you for your replies so far.
I truly apologize if I offended anybody in thr forum. When I mentioned that I don't get any good information, I expressed my frustration about other forums, I have been picking up some real good tips here. Ok, just so you don't think I am too lazy, here is what I tried so far while having a full time job as a programmer/developer.
I started with adwords and amazon, worked ok for a while, enough to make me want more. Used Cj, linkshare,clickbank, affili.net (i speak german and french), Overture, findwhat, adsense and I have about 15 domains. And I know a lot about energy drinks now.

But I am hooked and want to become better, sorry again about upsetting you.

I think the more the better, so I hope that some of you are up to it, to share information and experiences. I would like to quit my job ASAP, and I am sure, so does everybody else. So lets make it happen!

Mr. Texas mentioned that I am Lazy. I guess I can see how this might look this way, but he does NOT know me, and what I do, and how long I have been doing it, and the things I do for my friends and community, and if I want to speed things up, with some peers in the same situation, then that's a good thing. I have had the opportunities before to network between same minded people, and it is always fun, and very informative.

I guess just because you did all on your own (good for you), I guess everybody else has to? Sorry, but I don't agree, and if everyone would not have such selfish, narrow-minded opinions, everybody else could advance a lot faster, and without sooo much resentments.
I enjoy helping out, in all life situations. But to each, its own, I just wish negative comments could be left at IamTooUnhappy-andCranky.com.

In terms of "trying to reveal"... I don't understand this.

Don't you want more people to visit your site?

Yikes. I think some of the replies were a little harsh.
No matter what your current level of income is you do run into plateau's and maybe it would be nice to get some help to move on to the next level.

Yes, to a certain extent the answers are already in these forums. You need to poke around the Link Development forum, Cloaking, Keyword Discussion, Adwords, Overture etc. The answers aren't always spelled out clearly and you have to read between the lines.

I started back in 98 and people were very willing to share information and tips. Everone prospered because of it. There is enough to go around.

Let us mortals rise to the ranks of eljefe3, Drastic, rcjordan, cabby etc..!
