Continued from a related post.

You know your a full-time Affiliate Marketer when:

  • You find yourself wearing what you wore to bed all day long.
  • You can't explain to anybody what in the hell you do for a living.
  • All your neighbors think you operate an adult website or casino.
  • Your daily commute is less than 20 feet from your bed.
  • You find yourself using acronyms more often than words.
  • You have a hard time remembering which day of the week it is.
  • You spend more time than you know you should on Webamster World and other forums.
  • Everyone in your social circle has a handle and an avatar.

These are just a few generalizations. I would love to hear yours in a similar format.

  • Dorian

You dont understand why everyone else doesn't do this.- Because they dont belive its true and have an inability to grasp whats in their own hand.

I put this down to school teachers telling kids your no good, you can only do X 'cos your grades arent high enough. People have been conditioned to belive they have limits on their ability.

    Rubbish

Sorry, I have to agree with this quote as well. Does it take work, yeah, alot of work to get to a good point, but once you find your groove, it's not all that hard to do and certainly much easier than a full time go to work job. I have been telling friends for months now that I would teach them to do it and have not had one taker and yet everyone of them sits there and cannot believe the money I have made for the time put in.

My family and friends simply think I spend too much time in front of the pc. They would hate it as a profession and enjoy what they do -- others like the consistency of working at a regular job, even if it's something they don't enjoy....

Too bad you don't have more takers Hanna. It looks like they are just leaving more money on the table for those of us who are willing to work hard for it. All my neighbors are dying to know my secrets, but few are willing to do what it takes to make it happen.

I can relate to the email-from-AdSense-Support phobia. Got one yesterday and then realised it was for an early, never-used account that was rejected initially. Told them to cancel it. I got a follow-up today (caused more anxiety for a moment) with boilerplate telling me that it was cancelled. :)

I have been telling friends for months now that I would teach them to do it and have not had one taker and yet everyone of them sits there and cannot believe the money I have made for the time put in.

I am not yet in HML's league but I have been trying to help a couple of computer-literate friends who are out of work. I offered them a small turnkey solution for free - they listen, say they will get a domain etc, then they do nothing. Perhaps when I get to the UPS club level they might believe me.

If everyone else does do this, we won't be here anymore - all your customers will be affiliates, stealing your commissions ;)

    Do you understand?

I think the pie is still huge and for the taking by many more people. Basically anything that is produced for consumption can be marketed. That's a LOT of stuff - even if all of us members of WW were to be pulling in $10k/month (and what a dream would that be), there'd be still a lot more out there.

HOW COME NONE OF MY FRIENDS ARE OFFERING TO TEACH ME!

    oops

Oh, that's right. They don't know how to do either. I'll be the first. :-)

I actually had some friends that wanted me to teach them. I took the effort, but of course they were too cheap to get a domain name, so i even arranged hosting and buying the domain names (i have a reseller account)

Next thing you know, they want me to walk them through designing a site... it takes me more time doing that than making one. And then they want me to do all the marketing...

In the end they give up because the money doesn't roll in immediately.

Yes, but if "everyone else" is doing it, then your customer will simply buy through her own aff link - that's what I meant. Of course, this is highly unlikely.

I think the reasons why not everyone is doing aff marketing are - uncertainty, risk, lack of knowledge, fear, negative thinking etc.

Basically the same reasons why not everyone is in business for themselves...

    >> Does it take work

You know its astonishing sometimes how much money can be made in AM with soo little work!

Once i spend maybe 4-6 hours in a site which ended up making more than 100k (offcourse its making nothing now!)

Its not that easy nowadays but still much more attractive than any other business!

Still, one would think that the prospect of 'working from home', or 'making money while you sleep' would perk up people's interest. Yet, it doesnt...not that I am complaining, but I'd love to share my knowledge with my friends and family, so they too can benefit from the lifestyle. (plus, it gets lonely here when everyone is working and I got nothing to do..I'm starting to watch too much tv thesedays :))
