No one comes close to AdSense for revenue yet.

Yes, AdSense accepts sites with low impressions.

Some will argue that affiliates make them 100x more. I am yet to cash in on any affiliate on my sites. A measly few sales per month at most.

Targeted affiliate programs make more money than AdSense. AdSense is only perfectly targeted some of the time. Affiliate programs are perfectly targeted.

So of course they make more money.

We've had discussions about affiliate vs adsense, and I think the jury is still out and it depends on the site design. The question here is on other contextual ad networks vs Google.

I've never heard or tried any other that pays out more than Adsense.

I thought I did well with some affiliate stuff the last few years, enough to support a family anyway, and then I added Adsense and that has equaled that amount. It's about 50/50. Hopefully, people either do my affiliate stuff or click an ad to leave.

I was referring specifically to contextual advertisers, since he was asking about AdSense and Clicksor. For contextuals, AdSense is tops by a long shot.

It depends very much on the type of site - wildly in fact.

There is no doubt that the ultimate is a site with a small number (possibly large number) of direct, detailed affiliate schemes will outperform any other cpm, cpc etc - but bear in mind this is a science very few people have mastered multiple times - it takes, luck, knowledge and a huge amound of trial and error...

Adsense is great because it is ideally suited to the novice/intermediate revenue bracket - its reletively easy (in comparision at least) to get working well, and much of the same lessons are leart wlot less painfully than with some other methods...

Not a great answer I know - but then there are no hard and fast rules, since its variablity due to site type / catagory / content / quality / design is enormous...

Good luck,

Harley

Targeted affiliate programs make more money than AdSense. AdSense is only perfectly targeted some of the time. Affiliate programs are perfectly targeted.

Depends on the site. On an editorial site with diverse content (like mine), not all topics or pages are a good fit for affiliate programs. AdSense does a great job of monetizing pages that otherwise wouldn't earn revenue.

Example: I might have an information site about luxury travel that earns a ton of money from hotel affiliate links on its Springfield and Shelbyville tourist-information pages, but if I write a review of an Elbonian rowboat cruise, that review isn't likely to earn money. That's where AdSense comes to the rescue: It displays ads for Elbonian rowboat cruise lines and travel agencies, and I earn money with every click.

Finally, people need to stop thinking of affiliate programs and AdSense as an either-or proposition. The two can coexist peacefully and profitably. I use both on my site, and both pay extremely well.
