Good CPM for Search Box Program

Anyone know of a good ballpark CPM to expect from every 1000 searches?

Does anyone have any ballpark numbers on what a good CPM would be for every 1000 searches sent through a website? Let's consider it a general portal for traffic as an example.

Is a $4 CPM good? $10? Anyone have any recommendations for good search box programs that give decent results and payout fairly?

lycos.co.uk was running a program through tradedoubler a little while back im not sure if they are still running it though.

Lycos were paying 2p ($0.04 approx) for each search.
If my math is correct, that is $40 for every 1,000 searches.

Also consider "Adsense for search" from Google, where you will receive a share of the Adsense clicks that result from the user searching.

For high paying keywords/topic, I predict adsense would deliver the best results, for low paying topic's/keywords, selling on a "per search" basis such as what lycos were offering may give the best return.

This may be a different type of search box program than you had in mind. Not sure. Citysearch just launched a new affiliate program offering some search boxes and KW banners and they pay out 3-15 cents CPC and $15 CPA.
