Affiliate Beginner Questions

I currently have no advertising on any of my sites. Up until now, it wasn't even a consideration. However, as I move each of my interests to it's own domain, I am looking for ways to recover the hosting costs.

After spending the last two days reading this forum, I am still left with a couple of questions that I would like answers to before commiting myself to putting advertising on my sites.

1: I have more than one domain. Can I use the same affiliate ID on all of them, or do I need to get a separate ID for each individual domain?

2: Do any of the affiliate programs require that you use them exclusively on a page, or can you have more than one? IE: Google Adwords & Ebay & CJ links in different areas of the same page.

3: Are there any specific pitfalls buried in the TOS of certain programs that I should be mindful of? I'm not trying to earn a living here, just make a few bucks on something I'm going to be doing anyway. I'd prefer not to get dropped from any programs for something I may have overlooked.

This last one is a big one. Is there somewhere on this board that has a complete listing of the acronyms being tossed about? There are several that I have not been able to pick up on. PPC and such.

Thanks

Welcome Larry. I'm pretty new to the board myself. But I've been doing affiliate sales since 1997.

The answers are:
1)Yes, you can use the same affiliate ID on all of them. I have and have never had any problems doing so. But, go ahead and read everyone's TOS to make sure.
2)A few affiliate programs require that you use them exclusively. Vast majority do not. Don't worry about any merchant at CJ, BeFree or Linkshare.
3)If they don't want certain stuff on your site (adult) they won't pay you if they find it.

I don't know off hand of any page with a good list of acronym definitions. Google has some at [google.com...] PPC means Pay Per Click.

By the way, look into [google.com...]

You can usually use the same ID on all, but you might want to take advantage of the features of CJ/Linkshare to use a different ID on different sites. It will allow you to track the stats separately under the same account.

PPC is pay-per-click. There is a running joke around that it stands for the 3 taboo yet profitable affiliate areas Porn, Pills, and Casino.

WebmasterWorld has a glossary here:
[webmasterworld.com...]

It is linked in the header on every page.

Thank you both. It appears that advertising has finally found it's way into my place.
