Does anyone make money off CJ?

Curious. I used to run CJ ads on my site for about 4 months, but never got even one sell. And all the ads I chose were very relevant to my site. Anyone really make anything worth bragging about with these guys? The same goes with Linkshare for me.

Have had better luck making money with CJ than LinkShare but you can do ok with either one.

Making money on CJ depends on what industry you are in. There are some ebay affiliates making a killing on there. I do okay on some stuff (average about $50/day), but I do much better with AdSense and smaller affiliate programs.

Hmm, I guess it's just my site's theme, then. Oh well.

yeah I think there's money to be made through CJ - between $0 and $100 a day for me :) (more sliding towards the 0..)

My preference would always be using direct links to products, never just banners.

Remeber KISS: Keep it slippery stupid. You don't want long visits on your website. You want them to get there think they are on the right track and click thru right away to the merchant. Jakob Nielsen calls it following the information scent I believe.

Some publishers, though very few, make 50 times that in a month.

$500,000 a month?

I'd imagine a site(or sites) to generate this kind of money would have to be of the likes of MSN.

Where did you hear this or what else do you know about them?

Hard to imagine. I've read that creditcards.com makes about $50k a month. $500k is a tad ...beyond imagination.

You have a very tiny imagination. It is amazing what happens when you mix tons of free alcohol and lots of advertisers and pulishers in a very small venue.

The amount of money to be made really has nothing to do with wether it is CJ, Linkshare or in-house. The key is to pick the right program/niche to promote and get traffic to it.

The great thing about the internet, is almost the unlimmited amount of traffic, tied with a huge commerce market.

Even a relatively smaller market, tied with good serps, and a profit-heavy product, can make huge dollars. CJ or otherwise :)

Lol. Am I the only one seeing a problem with this description? did these individuals also express they see pink elephants flying everyonce in a while? really!

If I have a small imagination so be it, and it's great if $500k/month is possible in the industry. I just want to get the facts straight as to how one such goal would be accomplished. No offense but given the above I'd say the information runs the risk of not being very reliable.:)

Ok, here is a senerio.

In the month of September, 2,389,429 searches were done on the OV network for cellular phone. So you have a great site that ranks number 1 on that term and other terms related to it. And this is just on OV, you might have the same on google. You get millions of page views a month and your content is the best out there. You run affiliate programs that pay well and possibly adsense. You can make that kind of money.

Some publishers, though very few, make 50 times that in a month.

And then you replied with the cell phone example.

I would tend to think that anyone ranking top on such a popular keyword(s) would not be your average 1 person (or even 1 person with hires) deal, but a company.

Similar to ebay - top affiliates will make $1mill, but that's really the really big boys.

I'm not sure any regular joe can get there without a good dose of good timing to get into the industry, a lot of hard work and a ton of luck.

But hey, power to all of us if I'm wrong.
