I have lots of clients who could benefit from affiliates, but they would NEVER go through the trouble of making the connection or any of the tracking/measuring/follow-up stuff. Is this what an affiliate manager does? I would like to start connecting some clients with affiliates, but I don't know what my method of compensation would be.
Has anyone done this (probably thousands!). What is a good model for me to make a buck (other than becoming an affiliate)?

I'm an aff and have approached merchants directly as well. I find that these "independent" relationships are more profitable. Also, it can be fairly expensive for the merchant to set up with CJ et al.
So, yes, it's a business and it's been done on a grand scale, but if you can put the two groups together with less expense, then you can share in the profit.
