Welcome to Webmaster World!

If you don't mind, what is the category of goods being promoted through the affiliate program?

It all depends on the amount of sales you think your going to get through your affiliate program.

Let's say you own the popular shopping site Amazon. Since you automatically know from it's popularity that the affiliate program is going to do well, you can set your percentage the affiliate gets and cookie limit quite a lot lower.

If you own a small ecommerce site with only a few sales per day/week/month, you should set your percentage the affiliate gets and the cookie time higher. This is because people will be more inclined to sign up for your program.

Although there is no way to precisely jusge the popularity and size of your ecommerce shop (because we haven't seen it), 15%, 3 month cookies and a 2 tier sounds nice and generous. Your program should do fine with that.

If you need some info about starting your own program, this thread may assist you:

Also, there are quite a few other good posts around. Google this:

I hope this helps, and best of luck to you with your new program :)!

Ditto.

That all sounds very reasonable. 15% is a nice number for merchandise/product sales.

frankybme:

FYI, we are setting up an AM program as well. Instead of uploading our own software or paying the high prices CJ and others charge, we opted for another solution. All they do is track and report. You manage affiliates and cut checks. It works for us.
