Inserting keyword based text-link ads directly into articles

I have seen on some sites a method of advertising where an article is scanned for relevant keywords, and the keyword is made into an affiliate link. Can anyone tell me:

* The correct name for this method of advertising
* Where to go to apply
* Whether or not it's worth it

It goes by many names, the first and most popular is "intelliTXT" (or intellitext), but I've seen it listed by atleast 10 other alternatives.
