i received a query about selling one of my domain names. from looking at the inquirers site i determined that he is a designer where the name would have some branding value for at least some of his clients.

but looking in the search engines suggests that the reason for the interest might be more related to the fact that the domain name is the name of a soon to be released album. the artist routinely goes platinum on new release pre-sales.

the site is "aged" already, and number one for the name of the album. purely by accident, since there was no inkling that the name would be used on an album.

so....

i figure if the sale does not go through, it might be a great one-shot affiliate opportunity. one site, one album title, affiliate links to sellers in country x. if the artist stays popular, this could be an annuity based on type-in and search engine traffic. further development would turn it into a portal for the artist in general.

other than amazon, who are the big players internationally? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably the biggest player for this particular domain is the artist him/herself. Maybe you should drop their agent a line explaining the situation?
