When you're off the rat race, what's life like?

for those who are doing good with AM...

This is mostly off topic to the nitty gritty of AM - just curious about the relatively well off to the filthy rich of us here, and anyone in between, how is your lifestyle without a 9-5? how has it changed life for you, or what do you do with all this time you have now, or now that you're no longer associated to society by what job you have (you know, how in the US you are what your job is).

When you're off the rat race, what's life like?

I don't belong to the club yet, but I'd like to think that once you're at that level, every day of the week is a weekend day.

Does not bother me. I would not know what to do if I did not work. I spent 10 years going around the planet doing nothing. I could not last 7 days now. I get a kick out of doing even more and I do not have to. My father gave up work a year or 2 ago. He was 80 then but could have retired 30 years earlier. A lot of the time I do not even know what day of the week it is because I love what I do. The thought of dossing around for the sake of it makes me yawn. Each to his own though. Maybe I will calm down when the doc tells me to :)

I think the crux of the question is that 1) you love what you do and 2) it's a choice, and not something you have to do by necessity.

I'm not saying I'm where these guys are (not even close!) but I do enjoy working on my site(s), and I don't think I'll stop anytime soon. It started as a hobby, so the topic is not only something I studied in school for, but something I really enjoy. You know that question school counselors are supposed to ask you in high school, and then you're supposed to take that answer and go do it for a living? The ol, "What would you do even if no one paid you to do it?" I'm not saying this web stuff is what I wanted to do, but the theme/topic of my site is. If I didn't have a website on it, I'd still be doing it anyway. So there you go. Even if I somehow got to these guys' levels (my AM is climbing through the roof at the moment!), I don't think I would ever neglect the site, simply becuase I keep doing what I want to do, and I got tons and tons of stuff to throw onto the site. Although if I had a webmaster who could handle all the site stuff, and all I had to do was "research" the topic for the site, that would be great, too. :)
