My plan is to approach the various companies that sell my target product with the aim of setting up a relationship with them.
I am relatively new to this business and do not yet have a "flagship" site that I can hang my hat on.
If you were in my situation, would you:
1.) Build your site first, and then approach the merchants with your proposition.
2.) Approach them first to discuss, then build.
No.1 makes more sense to me, but it will also require a significant investment of my time up front (which I'm quite happy to do, I just run the risk of being rejected after all the work :) )
All input greatly appreciated.
I would say it depends on who you are approaching. If it is a fortune 1000 company, then you probably need a site that they can look at. If it's a store down the street, you can probably just approach them and tell them what you want to do.
It's always better to have a nice site for someone to look at on a nice URL.

I agree - that was my gut feeling all along. Better to make a great first impression than a wishy-washy "who is this guy?" presentation.
Thanks for the reponse. :)
