With all the complaining we see on this forum about the way Google runs AdSense I would expect to see more discussion about alternatives to that particular program. Yet there is very little. Are there simply no good alternatives? If there are, what are they?

There's been some discussion about AdS*nar (replace the asterisk with an "o"--the name gets censored if you spell it out). See the Advertising Sales and Affiliate Programs forum:

Also, take the complaints about AdSense with a grain of salt. On any forum, people who have problems are more likely to post than those who don't. That isn't to say that AdSense is perfect, but it's by far the best ad network that I've ever tried, and some of us have found that it complements other sources of income (such as affiliate sales) by letting us monetize subtopic pages that normally wouldn't generate revenue.
