How would a "top webmasters" site be judged anyway? Amount of design work a designer has done in the last year, judged by $$ income or # of sites? Which webmasters' client sites are top grossing in their industries?
I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out the point of such a site...

I have own top, but this URL wasn't published on this forum even in my profile.
I really don't like spam and never write urls of my sites without request.
My traffic outflow was 100X my traffic inflow. In other words, the top sites stole traffic, they didn't send me any.
It's the same concept as a web ring. You want to give users as few choices as possible to leave your site. You want them to stay as long as you can get them to, and buy stuff on your site. This is called Web Stickiness. Top sites and Web Rings are un-sticky... they send traffic away.
Search engine traffic and reciporical links are where you should be putting your time. I haven't paid a single person anything to promote my sites, and I top the list on many topics and keywords. Once you learn how to submit and optimize properly, Web Rings and Top Sites end up looking like the waste of Script that they are...
