Sorry if this post is in the wrong group.
I run a niche market website. It is very targeted to this niche group of people.

I'm currently getting 5000-6200 unique visitors/month and 300,000+ pages views/month.

How do I approach companies about banner advertisering? I know some of them advertise on sites similar to mine.

Does anyone have a form email they send out that they would like to share.

Or, is this better handled with a telephone call to the companies?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is 5,000-6,000 uniques enough to be approaching companies for banner ads? I think with that kind of traffic it might be easier just to add Adsense to your site. I get about 10,000 uniques a month and make a good deal from just Adsense. But hey... both couldn't hurt!

My onle real advice on the subject is to try and sound as personal as possible. Become very familiar with the sites you are trying to sell your ad space to. Good luck!

I have a client with a niche site who gets a similar level of unique visitors per month and all their revenue comes from selling advertising space. Their advertisers are all selling high value products and to be honest one sale pays for their advertising for 12 months or even longer, so I would say this is a factor.

To answer your question more directly, they tried the email approach and didn't do too well, so they now do all their contact via the telephone and it works really well for them. I think it depends to a large degree on your market sector and the type of advertisers you are after.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to get on the phone tomorrow and see what happens.

I do currently have adsense on the site but is not generating much.
