I went to CJ and applied for many companies. I was truned down from some. How does a person get approved by those companies that turn them down. Same question applies to Linkshare. Thanks

Hey,

Will you be promoting the programs through AdWords, or through a website.

If through AdWords, you may have to email the Merchant and tell them what you do.

Many companies in the networks look for a nice site when they review an app, particularly those concerned with their brand. If you want to just buy AdWords you may be able to convey that to the merchant by replying to the email that comes from them declining the application.

Some either don't want affiliates to bid on keywords or don't even think about it and may not have any policies in place for affiliates who want to do that type of thing.

Many programs will look to see if your site is related to their content. If not then many will not approve you. If you don't have a site, they can also not approve you. If you plan on building a site around their products, drop the AM of the program a line and let them know.

I currently am promoting some on my web sites but am planning on starting with Adwords. About 80% of what I have applied to has been approved. And I am surprised at some that have turned me down. Most are related to my site. Thanks

Zeus are you in the US? If not that could be the reason. Many merchants set up filters that deny any non US sites. Stupid IMHO, but they do.

Yes I am in the US. The two sites I submitted when I joined CJ and Linkshare are [snip]. Both are small sites.

If it is a site I really want, after applying I send them an email stating that my site is pending.

Tell them their site is great and think it will do good on your site and kiss up a little.

End the email by saying could you please approve my application.

Works every time :-)

If a merchant only wants us customers why would they accept sites not based in the us? I am a advertiser and that is what I do.

Because you are turning down free advertising? Because it is possible that someone from the US could be surfing a non US site?

and because you don't trust the non-us (them, eh?) base websites.

I don't bother to re-apply. I have enough already.

I'll echo the above. Send an email to the program manager and explain to him how your planning to advertise the site. If it is outside of placing links on your own site - which they feel is not related enough - by buying PPC traffic, they have no way of knowing unless you tell them.
