The Ad market, new ad sizes and the sale of Excite

all in one story...

Fascinating article speculating that @Home may be looking to offload Excite because of the declining Ad market. The article suggests that this may be a foolish move at least in the short term...

"how would @Home fare without it? Sure, we can all agree that online advertising is in pretty bad shape, but that can't last forever. And when the market does pick up, wouldn't Excite@Home be better for having another revenue stream besides access fees?"

Also the page seems to be a good example of working non-standard banner ads into the page, I do kind of like those skyscrapers.

I would agree, the ad market is bad right now, but it won't be forever. They sure haven't done much with the portal lately, but seems like it would make sense to hang on to it for now.

Me too, good to see them already in use here and there.
