I run a 3000-unique-user a day educational site, I got there from 10-a-day at the beginning of Jan 2003 thanks to WW and Bretts guide, and now I'm in a pretty good groove of systematic content writing. I tried affiliate marketing before with CJ, but I simply couldn't believe that those banners pushing products actually sold anything, and I felt they lowered the quality of my site, so I quit.
However, I also hear that affiliate marketing can be extremely successful, so I'd welcome any tips as to how I can make the best of affiliate marketing, and what steps I should take to get going in the right direction. All and sundry comments are welcome, especially sundry, and many thanks in advance for all your help,
Cheers,
Jeremy

Have you considered using the text links offered to you by the same merchants @ CJ? You could then incorporate those text links into your content. We have found that text links not only look more appealing, but also convert better then banners.
Also poke around the library

roscoepico has a great idea about incorporating text links into your content.
With affiliate schemes sell in context.
