How to get affiliate partners?

Hi, I have a client that I do SEO work for. He does not want to do any recipricol linking. He strickly wants affiliate marketing. I have been sending out emails in the same fashion that I would send out link requests and have gotten a 0 response so far. I was curious as to the way others here get other sites as affiliate partners.

Email isn't nearly as effective as a phone call.

I'd get phone numbers from the 'contact us' section of a webpage or the whois and call them up.

Send out followup emails as well.

If you want one way links - it's advertising - therefore you need to make it clear whether it's CPA, CPC or CPM. Most webmasters won't give one way links for free unless they like the site. The ones that do generally have traffic so low that the link is pretty worthless (apart from Pagerank) in generating sales. You need to change both the subject and text of the email if you are looking for affiliate marketing rather than a link exchange.

Agreed, if you want to enter into a financial relationship with someone, a phone call is a good way to establish some credibility. Plus if you get turned down, people will also give you a reason over the phone, and that is invaluable if you're prepared to listen to what you might not want to hear.

Start with the biggest sites and most successful sites in your subject area, especially ones run by individuals or that already run affiliate links, and work your way down. Believe me, one large and committed affiliate is worth a hundred sites that simply agree to slap up a link somethere.

Hi Dross,
Even I tried and had a hard luck in getting affiliate partners. Can anybody suggest me with good mails and the subject of the email as to how to target new sites to my ecards affiliate program.

Thanks for the responses so far. I might try the phone call approach allthough I must admit, I hate getting on the phone to get throgh to the person I need to get in contact with.
