Impressions and Page Views

I have an Adspace at the very bottom of my page that pays by impressions.

In order to get an impression, do visitors have to actually VIEW the ad (scroll to the bottom of the page), or do they just load the page the ad is on.

I was just wondering this because my stats say I get X impressions on a page, but honestly just me working on the website I know I must racked up atleast X times ten page impressions, however I dont know how many times I scrolled all the way to the bottom.

You do not need to scroll to view the ad for an impression to be counted but the ad server is likely discounting repeated impressions served to the same IP address.

Are you saying that you are viewing the page 10 times more than all of your visitors combined? That seems unlikely.
