Hi,

We all optimize web sites and pages, but rarely discuss the topics or themes of our sites. Some of us have non profit sites, but many people make a few extra $ or more...

What is in your opinion the most profitable topic for a web site? I read a post were a webmaster told that his site makes $10,000 in revenue per month with 1500 visitors per day. If this is true I would like to know where the money comes from (Anyway, I guess the numbers are wrong...).

I´m myself in the mobile entertainment business and the above mentioned revenue would be quite accurate if one divided it with 10! The industry average orders/visitors is between 2-5 % (100 visitors = 2-5 orders). All depends on payments methods, content quality, usability of the web site etc.

Adult entertainment, banner ads, Viagra, MP3 downloads, software, books?

Hmmm....Don't knock it, some people have been building sites since the Internet began.

Their are many sites that can draw in that much turnover per month, I am not saying its easy nor that i am doing that well myself just stating a fact their are good quality sites out their that deserve to earn those sort of figures.

I bet when they first started they hardly earned a $ over a period of a few years.

With a good product, good prices and a good service and dedication you too can be succesful.

The good thing is with the internet and the skill of producing web sites it opens a large box oof ideas and possibilities.

Some retail stores earn that much per month and they have to open from 9am and close 6pm. The Internet allows you to be open 24 hours a day and cater for every country around the world.

When you find the right product and prices let me know :)

I made roughle a tenth of that in my first month fo my very first affilaite site ever. If it doesn't increase by at least ten times over the coming months, I'll shoot myself in the foot ;)

Don't think of it as a hobby. Think of a company with 2-3 people (minimum for any decent site, alone due to skill sets required), $10,000/month is probably the bare minium.

Most people playing chess for fun don't expect to make much money... same for hobby websites. But a business thinks (must!) in completely different numbers.

One of my pharma sites is getting less than 100 visitors daily and making me about 7k a month...

Pharmacy ...

That being said I think you hit a very important aspect of online marketing. Everyone that is making any money online understands the importance of keywords and picking the right ones, however I still think people don't understand just how important a piece of the puzzle keywords are.

They are my number one priority when creating any new site, the right keywords = me making money ...

Pick the wrong keywords and my pockets are empty .... I see so many affiliates jump from one program to the next simply because it is the "new program on the block" .....

Those involoved with online marketing need to step back, take the long road to internet riches and learn about keywords and how to create sites to drive traffic.

Anyway .... just my 2 cents ....
