Money for Reviews on Epinions?

I apologize if this doesn't quite fall under the forum topic, but it seemed the most appropriate place to ask (feel free to move it if I'm wrong!).

I created an account at epinions.com today and wrote a couple of reviews. Afterwards, I noticed they have a system where you supposedly get a split of the (advertising?) profits related to the product you reviewed if your review was one of the more helpful and most used.

I was just wondering if any of you earning-cash-on-the-web types had done any reviews for them and what your experience was with a payout, if any. I enjoy content writing, and there are any number of things in their inventory I could review. I am mostly wondering if the financial compensation turns out to be worth it in the long run or if I should stick to writing content for my own site :) Thanks for your thoughts!

It's a good way for THEM to get free content and expertise and a way for them to really never payout a lot of money to users because most don't hit the minimum.

Back in the OLD DAYS, you could easily make three figures a year at Epinions.

But now they cut back, and you are lucky to break into the two figures.

Don't quit your day job.

I've turned content to gold on my own pages, and never really written my own. I revenue split with writers and leave each their own expertise.

You should easily find honest people with niche sites that make more in your area then epinions. And you'Re more likely to get good conditions then too.

I wrote about 50 very good reviews for electronics/computers (the highest paying area). I get about $12 a month....

Currently, 50 very good articles on my own site with adsense makes many many many many many many times that a month.
