Commision Junction Links not displaying

I am using FrontPage to create my site. I inserted LinkShare affiliate links no problem - once you figure out you need to frame the affiliate link with the following so FrontPage does not mess with the affiliate links:

<!--Webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->
LinkShare Code goes here.
<!--Webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan -->

I did the same for CJ and had no success. The links do not show up with I upload the site. I have used text links and banners and no luck. Does anyone have any advice on how to get CJ links to display when using front page? Also, does anyone have advice on how to get a response from CJ?

Thanks
Jim

Don't paste your code in html view. Use normal view. Edit - Paste Special - Treat as HTML.

Works for me everytime.

Thanks for the tip. I did this and it does not work - much the same as before. I have no problem placing LinkShare affiliate links - how are they different from CJ links? Any more advice? I am using FrontPage 2002.

So I messed around some more - and in some browsers you see the links fine - and in mine you do not. I closed down my Norton Internet Security - and now the links show up fine in my browser. Does CJ work for those people with a firewall set up? Any tips?

Thanks

I use ZoneAlarm and have never had the problem you describe.

JMCNYC, this is a known problem. Norton's ad-blocking tools remove all Commission Junction links from websites, including text links. I found this out when I installed a Norton firewall. Turn off ad-blocking and the problem will go away (for you; your visitors with Norton ad-blocking on will not see your CJ links).

The same thing goes for Alexa. If you have ad blocking turned on - good by links. The difference is that Alexa pops up a box to ask you if you want to block pop ups on that site you clicked on. I discovered this when I couldn't pick up any links from BeFree for my site because
I had clicked the no popups box in Alexa.

This is the CJ response:

Please check the following 3 items:

1) Please make sure your browser is set to accept third party banners.

2) Please make sure the following 6 servers are being allowed into your firewall: qksrv.net, qkimg.net, qksz.net, cj.com, commissionjunction.com, commission-junction.com.

3) If you have KazaaLite, Morpheus, or BearShare installed on your computer, there is an opt-in functionality that blocks affiliate links (CJ , included) from coming through on your computer.

When I asked how to get around this and that it will affect many of my visitors as these are popular programs and if they have them installed they can not see my links - they said:

That is correct. If the a visitor has those settings, you will not get credit. We find that the percentage of visitors with any of those settings to be quite small and that those visitors are highly unlikely to make a purchase anyway. But we do not ahve a work around, sorry.

I do not agree - but looks like this is the only option if you want to work with CJ

The alternative would be to get someone from CJ to talk to someone from Norton. I won't hold my breath :)

What option? There is no option other than setting a CJ or BeFree guy besides any of my potential visitors (some 2 billion people) and tell them the 517 exact steps to do in order to see my affiliate links.

I am going to drop out of that game guys, this is CJ's and other network's death penalty. The use of adware and security add-ons to prevent handling cookies as supposed is growing by the minute. I am not sitting here waiting for scumware and ad blockers to eat up my night time efforts.

Time to move on, good-buy affiliate marketing (the traditional network way).

Cheers, Jens

PS: I have been asking questions to all big networks (cj, ls, befree, performics and others) and never got any sort of encouraging outlook. They don't realize the issue = I am outta here.

Would it be a solution to link to a script on your own site which then 301 redirects to the CJ target address? In other words, do the ads block going to the address, or to they remove it form the webpage when it'S displayed?

The links are never displayed -- they become invisible. The visitor can't even tell something has been removed. It's flat-out defacement of websites.
